As a former member of the North Massapequa Fire Department I hope everyone appreciates our Volunteer Fire Fighters from the Massapequa and North Massapequa Fire Departments. Massapequa is very lucky, and should be very proud of the outstanding service they provide to their communities. Not that I'm partial (only bored and raised in North Massapequa) but I know they are two of the best departments on Long Island. Keep up the great work guys and gals.........You're the BEST!!!!

High to all the members of the NMFD. I was a member in 1958 before I left for the Army at the end of 1959 for a 3yr stay that turned into a 20yr career. I live now in Germany and I remember the torio boys and Ed Penna And the Frank Brothers Jimmy Frazier Don Denmeade and so many others I cant remember. If any body remembers me send me an email and I will answer.

Best regards

I was surfing the web tonight and decided to look you guys up...what memories!

I live in Oklahoma City and work as a Lt. on the Oklahoma City Fire Dept., getting ready to retire soon. One of the reasons I got on the job down here is because as a kid one day in 1965 I rode my bicycle from Seaford to watch N. Mass fight a huge gas-station fire and thought that was the greatest thing I'd ever seen! I eventually married Mike McGroartys daughter who I met at that fire, and moved down here. One of the feedback letters mentioned Jim Frazier, I used to play drums for Mr. Frazier in the old Seaford Golden Hawks in the mid-60's,...that was a great time in my life.

Anyhow, great web-site! thanks for going through the trouble to put it up. Best of luck to you all, you guys stay safe!

I was a member of Company 1 for almost five years back in the early 70s. It seems like only yesterday. I never knew a greater group of people in my life and I think of each of them very often. If any of you remember me, I'd be happy to hear from you.

Your site is very good.  I was checking it out as my father Bob McCarthy was a member in the fifties and sixties.  He was Capt. of Co.#3.  Some of the names in the feed back are familiar.  Mike McGroarty was dads business partner in Mac Electric.  Dad also played  the Glockenspiel in the NMFD Drun & Bugle Corp so Jim Frazier is a name I remeber.  Some other people I remember are Huddy, Kelly, Pokeres, Babcock, Larsen.  And please someone say hello to Fred Penna for me.

Just looking over your website as my dad was a fireman back in the sixties, Johnnie Manfredo.  Some names sound familiar to me, though I was young.  Hope you still make the little children happy with Santa on the brightly lit fire truck every Christmas.  I know the kids on my block loved it.  Keep up the good work
